Goals of Pandas International

The primary goals of Pandas International are to ensure that not one captive or wild panda is lost; the species propagate and their environment is preserved. We must save the existing pandas and breed new generations, while preserving their habitat.

Protection of the Giant Panda will assure the biodiversity of the region. The continued existence of the Giant Panda relates directly to the economic stability and population growth in the region.

We must responsible for sharing our planet. This is an opportunity to protect a valuable part of our natural world, and take a small step toward preventing this species from passing into oblivion.

Long term Goals and Activities of Pandas International include:
  • Supporting research projects to study disease prevention and treatment of wild and captive Giant Pandas. There are diseases that are a serious treat to the health of pandas and cause a high death rate.
  • Funding a comprehensive research program to study the digestive problems common to young pandas is in the planning stages.
  • Aid efforts to reintroduce pandas into the wild. Support for Zoos around the world that have Giant Pandas.
  • Support biodiversity by maintaining the Panda reserves and bamboo forests.
  • Help the indigenous Tibetan groups that live within the Panda reserves maintain their culture while helping the Panda, a very important element of their culture.
